Now that David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman television series has been lassoed out of the fall lineup, it falls once again to that underdog of the entertainment industry – films – to pick up the slack. Of the lasso. Wonder Woman has a lasso, you see. Anyway, no formal move has been made on a Wonder Woman movie lately, but with Green Lantern doing more-or-less okay at the box office it doesn't seem out of the question. And should star? Christina Hendricks. And who wants to star? Christina Hendricks. Wow, that's convenient.
Vulture recently reported that Nicolas Winding Refn, whose upcoming action movie Drive unexpectedly won him the Best Director award at this year's Cannes Film Festival (beating out the likes of Terrence Malick, Lars von Trier and Pedro Almodovar), has a star in mind for Wonder Woman, a dream project that he told Movieline was the reason he made an action movie in the first place. He wanted to "start the ball rolling within the system" in order to be a candidate for the project in the future. And he wants his Drive star Christina Hendricks to play the title role.
Hendricks herself has expressed interest in the film previously, telling Rachel Ray that "I've been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life … I had Underoos. I had Wonder Woman Underoos."
Everybody take a second to imagine Christina Hendricks in Wonder Woman underoos. Go ahead, take your time. Hollywood, can we get on this please? Okay, thanks.
Crave Online will be back with more Wonder Woman news provided anybody ever greenlights the project.
