Activision has announced Call of Duty XP 2011, the first annual fan convention for the Call of Duty franchise. Like QuakeCon or BlizzCon, Call of Duty XP 2011 is dedicated to all that is CoD, for fans of CoD, by the people that make CoD.

The event is scheduled for September 2nd and 3rd of this year. It’s going to be hosted in Los Angeles, California. According to the press release provided, the team behind the event has secured a “12-acre compound in the confines of urban Los Angeles.”

Beyond simple rounds of Call of Duty, and a $1,000,000 tournament, fans will be able to take part in a variety of experiences based on the shooter and its titles. For instance, there’s actually a large-scale replica of The Pit planned. Fans will be able to take each other on in the map with paintball guns.

There is some news slated to arrive from Activision concerning Call of Duty during the event as well. The press release labels this as the world premiere of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and they'll be detailing Call of Duty Elite fully.

The event will be open to 6,000 people and tickets will cost $150 a piece. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Call of Duty Endowment, a charity set up to help veterans of combat find jobs and succeed back in the civilian world. The limited size of the show, especially when compared to the 25,000 that attend Blizzard’s convention, has been done in order to avoid lines that are too long and spaces that are too cramped.

Tickets go on sale on July 19th.
