‘Uncharted: The Movie’ Has a New Director!

The list of candidates was limitless, so they got the guy from Limitless.

After David O. Russell's sudden departure from Sony's movie adaptation of the hit videogame Uncharted, most of the follow-up news has been about what David O. Russell is going to do next, like Maleficent, believe it or not. But what about Uncharted? Who's going to fill the Fighter director's shoes? Well, according to Variety, it's none other than Neill Burger, aka "Who?!"

Neil Burger is the director of this year's surprise hit film Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper as a dishevelled loser who gets superhuman intelligence thanks to an addictive drug. If we're being honest, we didn't like it… but that had more to do with a haphazard screenplay. In all fairness, Burger directed the hell out of it. He directed the hell out of The Illusionist with Ed Norton, too, although once again the script brought that baby down. It's unclear whether Burger, who is in negotiations right now, will keep the current screenplay by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer or develop one of his own.

Also up in the air: if Mark Wahlberg, currently attached to play Nathan Drake, will stay on board after his regular collaborator David O. Russell has left.

Crave Online will be back with more Uncharted news when it seems fortunate (Drake's fortunate) to do so.
