IS Naomie Harris Moneypenny in ‘James Bond 23?’

The Pirates of the Caribbean star rumored to be up for the one Bond Girl who never said "Yes."

It looks like our collective dreams of Javier Bardem playing Moneypenny are over: The Daily Mail, admittedly not the most reliable source for movie news (but they're British, so we're giving them the benefit of the doubt on Bond news) reports that Naomie Harris is in "final stages of negotiations" to play the first Miss Moneypenny since 2002's Die Another Day. The long-running character had previously found her niche as the only woman capable of resisting James Bond's charms (even though deep down in our hearts we always knew they'd settle down and get married some day), but had been mysteriously absent from the freshly rebooted James Bond franchise. With M's personal assistant/bodyguard revealed to be a traitor in Quantum of Solace it seems that the time is finally right for her big return to the screen.

If true, Harris would only be the fourth canonical Moneypenny in the film series' history, following the iconic Lois Maxwell (who played the character from the first Bond film, Dr. No, all the way through 1985's A View to a Kill), Caroline Bliss (who rebuffed Timothy Dalton's advances in The Living Daylights and License to Kill) and Samantha Bond (who covered the Pierce Brosnan years from Goldeneye to Die Another Day).

CRAVE Online will return with more Bond 23 news, hopefully when they get themselves a real title.
