After the success of PSN exclusive titles like Joe Danger, Flower and the PixelJunk series, Sony has announced that they have just dumped another $20 million into the development of PlayStation Network exclusive titles from both first-party developers and companies within the Pub Fund, a Sony-instigated initiative program for independent developers.
As the official press release states, this generous investment is Sony’s way of showing that they are committed to seeking out and expanding their portfolio of exclusive downloadable PlayStation Network titles.
“PlayStation Network is poised to deliver an enviable line-up of exclusive and imaginative games this year, with highly anticipated first-party titles like thatgamecompany’s Journey and PixelJunk Sidescroller,” said Brandon Stander, director of PlayStation Network marketing, SCEA. “We’re doubling down on PlayStation Network software, and under this additional investment over the next three years, we anticipate a steady flow of high-quality titles that can’t be found anywhere else.”
Outside Journey and PixleJunk Sidescroller, Sony is also gearing up to launch Eufloria, Okabu and Papo & Yo, all independently-developed exclusives for the PlayStation Network. If you’re a fan of the PlayStation Network downloadable titles, it seems as though good things are on the horizon.
