As Witney Seibold reminded us in this week's Free Film School, none of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies from the last decade have been anywhere near as good as the original. But now at least they'll be worthy of comparison, because Bloody Disgusting just learned that Marilyn Burns will be returning for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D!

The upcoming third film in the rebooted franchise from director John Luessenhop (who brought you the Idris Elba heist movie Takers) will feature a special appearance from Burns, the famous "final girl" from Tobe Hooper's classic original. This is not the first time Burns has returned to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: she had an anonymous cameo in 1994's The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, aka The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, a film most famous for featuring early performances from future superstars Matthey McConaughey and Renee Zellweger. Burns will be playing a character named Verna Carson, and as a bonus, she'll be joined by her original co-star John Dugan, reprising his role as Leatherface's grandfather from the original film!

While none of this means that Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will be an amazing movie, don't underestimate the power of geek fan service to get us into a tizzy about it. Most exciting news indeed.

CRAVE Online will return with more Texas Chainsaw Massacre news… even if it is in 3D.
