The adventures of "Naked Snake" are on hold for a few more months.

I’m really starting to feel bad for Nintendo 3DS owners. You guys are really hurting for software. Seriously, I hear our own Joey Davidson sobbing in the bathroom daily, mumbling about how “it’s just not fair.” That’s why it pains me to be the bearer of bad news and tell you that one of the 3DS’s most anticipated titles of 2011 has been pushed back into 2012.

That’s right, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will not be coming out this year, reports Kotaku. Enter: sad face.

Unfortunately, the reason for the delay was not given to Kotaku. The site’s source wasn’t even able to peg a specific new release date, just sometime in “2012.” This is no doubt disappointing news for fans of Metal Gear Solid and owners of the 3DS. Much like Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Star Fox 64 3D, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D was easily one of the handheld’s biggest draws from a software standpoint when the system was announced. But alas, it looks like you’re going to have to bottle up your excitement a little longer for that one.

But if you’re also a console gamer, you can get in on the Snake Eater action before 2012, in high definition no less, when the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection releases this November.
