Sony and Insomniac Games are gearing up to launch the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta. Early access to the beta will kick off on August 4th, reveals the official PlayStation Blog. Not sure if you’re early access worthy? Well, if you bought a specialty-marked copy of Socom 4 when it released, then you’re in luck. You’ll find a Resistance 3 beta voucher in the case to that game and can redeem it on the PlayStation Store on August 4th to begin your early taste of what Resistance 3’s multiplayer will offer.

The Resistance 3 multiplayer beta will also become available to PlayStation Plus subscribers on August 23rd, downloadable from the PS+ section of the PlayStation Store. If you don’t fall into the camp of being a Socom 4 owner or PS+ subscriber, don’t fret. Sony and Insomniac will be making other opportunities available for players to join in on the fun as the beta leads up to Resistance 3’s full-blown launch on September 6, 2011.

The last business to cover here is what exactly the beta will offer to those who join. You’ll get access to two maps (Seaside of Glamorgan, Wales and Trainyard in Bogota, Colombia), as well as two game modes out of the total five (Team Deathmatch, Chain Reaction). You’ll also be able to level up your character, customize your loadouts, upgrade your weapons and abilities and unlock player skins. The beta will be level capped at 20, so you won’t get the full Resistance 3 multiplayer experience (duh!), but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying this early taste of heaven.
