All of those anal nerds who get worked up about renumbering longstanding series need to relax, and maybe Fantastic Four #600 can help them with that. Ever since the death of the Human Torch Johnny Storm, Fantastic Four has been shortened simply to FF, which currently signifies their new status as the Future Foundation. However, a little thing like a name change or renumbering isn't going to stop them from celebrating once they hit a milestone (aka aesthetically pleasing round number) like a 600th issue. You can bet your sweet bippy that, reboot or no, Action Comics #1000 will be a big deal when it rolls around.
So what's going on in Fantastic Four #600 to celebrate their 50th birthday? Judging by the teasers below, plenty. We know from writer Jonathan Hickman's statements at San Diego Comic-Con that this issue will show us the actual on-panel death of Johnny Storm, hence the Annihilus tease. Also, the massive Evil Reed Richards plot and the Inhumans/Kree struggles will come to a head, and no FF anniversary issue would be complete without an appearance from The Devourer of Worlds known as Galactus.
Also, it's important to note that Fantastic Four #600 signifies a split from FF, marking two separate series going forward. The Future Foundation and the Fantastic Four will each have their own series. How is THAT going to work? We'll have to wait to find out.
In the meantime, check out these teasers - and there may be one more coming tomorrow.
EDIT: Indeed there is a Friday teaser, and it's been added below!
