Last week we heard that Jason Segel won't come back to script The Muppets 2. Now he explains why in his own words.

Last week we reported that a Muppets sequel is moving ahead without Jason Segal as writer, though Nicholas Stoller is still collaborating with James Bobin. This is both good and bad news: good that Disney is moving head with more Muppet movies, sad that Segal can’t participate.

Segal was at a press conference for his new film Jeff, Who Lives At Home on Saturday, so we used our one shot at the mic to ask Segal: Could they not wait until he was available so he could be involved?

“You know, my goal was to bring The Muppets back and I think that I achieved that,” Segal said. “It was half a decade of my life and I just want to take a minute to concentrate on more human related projects.”

As Segal was rushed out of the room at the end of the press conference, there was no chance to follow up on whether or not he would still act in the sequel. Next time.

We’ll have more with the cast of Jeff, Who Lives At Home on CraveOnline.
