"Sometimes I wonder if this is the price of our sins." - Cersei Lannister
In seven days, HBO will return to the continent of Westros for the second season of "Game of Thrones," the critically acclaimed adaptation of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series.
As unlikely as it sounds, Queen Cersei Lannister expresses her lament during the opening seconds of the latest trailer for season 2, perhaps because she realizes that she's raised her son, Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) into becoming a monstrous and power mad king or because her brother (and lover), Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster Waldau) is a prisoner of Robb Stark (Richard Madden).
Regardless, war has come to Westros as Renly Baratheon (Gethin Anthony) and Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) prepare to join the fray and lay their own claims to the Iron Throne. To the east, Daenerys Stormborn (Emilia Clarke) struggles to lead her people through a barren wasteland while protecting her newborn dragons. Even so, Daenerys knows that there is no better time to reclaim the seven kingdoms than when the major families make war upon themselves.
And if you look closely at the end of the trailer, you'll see that the new Hand of the King, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) may get another shot at everyone's favorite punching bag.
Don't miss the second season premiere of "Game of Thrones," Sunday, April 1 on HBO!
