Former Florida Gator basketball player Erving Walker is paying dearly for what he calls a 'silly mistake.'

Walker stole a $3 taco from a Gainesville street vendor. After pleading no contest to the misdemeanor on Thursday morning in Alachua County Court, the school's all-time assists leader will now have to pay $301 to make up for the theft.

As part of the agreement, the state dropped an additional misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest without violence.

"It was just a silly mistake," Walker stated following his court date. "I apologize to everybody. I'm embarrassed about it. That's not me. I'm just trying to put it behind me and move on."

The incident happened on March 30 around 1 a.m. ET after Gainesville Police officers arrested the player following a foot chase that also involved several police cars — over a stolen taco.

According to the police report, Walker ordered and was handed a taco from a street vendor on Main Street but took off without paying a dime. While yelling to "Stop!," the po-po chased Walker onto University Avenue, where he looked back at an officer but continued to run — again, over a taco.

After the 22-year-old was caught several blocks later, Walker admitted to swiping the taco but said he was "just playing around."

So remember kids, whether you're a college basketball star or just your typical freshman business major, justice will be served. Pay for your tacos.
