While the early talk of "True Blood" season 5 has centered on the apparent return of Russell Edgington (Denis O'Hare), the former Vampire King is far from the only adversary facing Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard). Last season, AVL spokeswoman Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck) tried to blackmail Eric and Bill into supporting her fight against the Vampire Authority by threatening to expose Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) as half-fairy.
So Bill and Eric teamed up and killed Nan.
But all signs indicate that Bill and Eric are going to have fight against the Authority whether they want to or not. Created by a vampire named Roman (Christopher Meloni) over 2000 years ago, the Authority is comprised of the most powerful vampires in the world. Their power is absolute and several vampires appear to worship them.
The fifth season of "True Blood" will not only introduce Roman to the cast of characters, but also his chancellors Salome (Valentina Cervi), Kibwe (Peter Mensah), Rosalyn Harris (Carolyn Hennesey), Alexander Drew (Jacob Hopkins) and Nora (Lucy Griffiths), who is Eric's vampire sister and she may be Eric and Bill's only ally within the Authority.
HBO has released a new teaser trailer for "True Blood" season 5 which offers a glimpse of several Authority members in an almost religious setting before the former "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star, Meloni pops his fangs onscreen for the first time.
"True Blood" will return to HBO on Sunday, June 10.
