Next month, Cinemax's intense action series, "Strike Back" is coming back for its second season in the U.S. (and third overall when counting the original U.K. incarnation).
Last season, viewers were introduced to Damian Scott (Sullivan Stapleton), a wrongly disgraced American soldier who was recruited into Section 20 — a secretive military unit run by the British government — by Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester). As the duo chased terrorist threats around the world, Scott and Stonebridge's uneasy alliance grew into a professional relationship with mutual respect under the guidance of Col. Eleanor Grant (Amanda Mealing).
By the end of the season, Grant sacrificed her life to take down the international terrorist Latif (Jimi Mistry) and Stonebridge retired from the unit to concentrate on his family. But don't expect that to last long. Stonebridge will be back in Section 20 alongside Scott and the team in the new season. At Comic-Con International, the first few minutes of season 2 were played and Scott was present as a routine mission went horribly wrong.
Cinemax has released a new trailer for "Strike Back" season 2 which shows off plenty of gunfire, explosions and naked people heading our way. This is a Cinemax show, after all. We also get a glimpse of Section 20's new commanding officer, Captain Rachael Dalton as portrayed by Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans).
"Strike Back" returns to Cinemax on Friday, August 17 with two back-to-back episodes. In the meantime, check out our exclusive interviews with Stapleton, Winchester and Mitra from Comic-Con!
