The final face-off in the octagon of the reality show "The Ultimate Fighter" will see two Canadians battle it out – Mike Ricci and Michael Hill. It will be shown this Friday night.
Ricci hails from Montreal and trains at Tristar Gym (where professional fighter Georges St-Pierre trains), while Hill is from the Kelowna, BC area – both are contending for a contract with one of the biggest leagues in the world. For this 16th season of "The Ultimate Fighter," 16 fighters in the welterweight division have been battling it out, week by week, to see who would be the last man standing.
Ricci told The Canadian Press that since defeating Dom Waters recently, coach Roy Nelson's first pick, he wanted to fight 25-year-old Hill because he was the second pick on the rival Nelson team. "Hill being the second pick, obviously it caught me eye. It intrigued me a bit, being able to say I was able to beat all of Nelson's top guys," the 26-year-old Ricci explained in an interview. "That was part of it, but I think stylistically as well after watching Hill fight twice, I just felt like he didn't really belong there and I was going to be able to send him home quite easily."
The final episode of "The Ultimate Fighter" will air this Friday on FX and Sportsnet.
