Today, Activision has announced that actors Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker will reprise their roles of Daryl Dixon and Merle Dixon, respectively, for Activision’s upcoming The Walking Dead game, called The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a first-person shooter set within the universe of AMC’s television show (Daryl and Merle don’t exist in the original comics). Longtime Walking Dead fans are still questioning whether a first-person shooter is the way to go with the property (myself included), seeing as how the series is more about surviving than blasting zombies in the face, but the addition of Reedus and Rooker make it an easier pill to swallow.

The game is scheduled to release some time next year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. This will be Norman Reedus’ first attempt at video game voice acting, while Michael Rooker has some experience, including this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
