It’s that time of year again; time for the Spike Video Game Awards and all the cool announcements and trailers that come with it. If you couldn’t find the time to sit down and watch the festivities during your Friday night (we don’t blame you), don’t worry, we have you covered. So read/watch on to get a sneak peek at the future.
South Park: The Stick of Truth
The trailer for this game confirms that it's still high on our must-have games list for 2013. The trailer premiere reveals.... dun dun dun... Cartman is still a dick.
The Phantom Pain
This mystery project from Moby Dick Studio features, wait for it, a giant phantom whale and other odd supernatural/horror elements. The lead character looks a lot like Big Boss of Metal Gear Solid fame. People online are already speculating that this is a Metal Gear project, supported by some ridiculous conspiracy theories. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a while longer to find out for sure.
The Last of Us
Hot. Damn. The Last of Us is looking incredible. That's nothing new, really. What is new is the game's official release date of May 7, 2013. Mark your calendars.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
We’re finally getting some new footage of the follow-up to the original Lords of Shadow by MercurySteam. The trailer shows some cool gameplay interspersed with some impressive cutscene footage. Looking good thus far.
Dark Souls II
We’re getting more impossibly-hard-action-adventuring in Dark Souls II, coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. We know nothing else about the game, but hardcore masochists should be pumped.
Assassin’s Creed III: Tyranny of King George DLC
Our first look at the upcoming expansion for Assassin’s Creed III shows a power hungry George Washington. And is that a bear hat?!
Gears of War: Judgment
The dude-bros are back. We got a peek at some new characters and some new enemy types during the VGA trailer. Young Cole is looking strapping.
We got to see two separate segments from BioShock Infinite. The first was the introduction of Elizabeth, and the second was a fight with the “Handyman.” The game is still looking great. I really dig the new look for Elizabeth, which seems to only be when you first meet her in the game.
If you’re a Croft, you’re destined for greatness, apparently. The VGAs played host to a new trailer for Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider. This game is also shaping up nicely.
Halo 4: Spartan Ops
Lastly, a new trailer for Spartan Ops DLC highlights what you can expect from the second half of its “first season,” which returns in January.
