Most will agree that zombies are a bit played out at the moment, although the success of The Walking Dead is still something to be reckoned with. Don't tell that to Chris Ryall, though, who wrote the Eisner-nominated series Zombies vs. Robots as well as books based on Shaun of the Dead, George A. Romero's Land of the Dead and so on. Ryall loves zombies.
However, when teaming with Sam Kieth, best known for his innovative work with The Maxx, you know you're going to get something outside of the norm. That's what this preview for IDW's The Hollows goes to show. Sure, there are creepy shamblers feeding on the living, but there are also people with elaborate jet packs living in massive tree-city aeries in Japan. It's definitely a curiosity, and a twist on old themes.
Check out this first look at The Hollows #1, due out tomorrow.
