In ten days, the Doctor (Matt Smith) will return to BBC America and BBC One for the annual “Doctor Who” Christmas special.

Following the events of “The Angels Take Manhattan,” the Doctor has retired to Victorian England and given up his life of adventure, much to the chagrin of his old friends Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Commander Strax (Dan Starkey).

But there will be no rest for the weary Time Lord as Doctor Simeon (Richard E Grant) and his army of killer Snowmen threaten to wipe out humanity with the last winter on Earth. And in the middle of this new crisis, the Doctor will meet Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman), the young woman who will be his new companion.

Clara may be just the person the Doctor needs to get his head back in the game. But will the Doctor pickup on Clara’s resemblance to Oswin from “Asylum of the Daleks”? And could Clara somehow be Oswin herself?

Expect those questions to come up often in the back half of the seventh season in April 2013. For now, check out BBC America’s brief teaser trailer for “Doctor Who: The Snowmen” with special guest star, Sir Ian McKellen as the voice of the Snowmen!

“Doctor Who” returns on Christmas, Tuesday, December 25 on BBC One and BBC America!
