Earlier today, actor Jack Klugman passed away, leaving behind a six decade legacy of roles in film and television.
Born Jacob Joachim Klugman on April 27. 1922; Klugman first broke into television during the ‘50s on “The Greatest Gift,” “Appointment With Adventure” and “Justice.” Klugman also appeared in four episodes of the original version of “The Twilight Zone.”
Klugman went on to co-star in several films, including 12 Angry Men, Days of Wine and Goodbye, Columbus.
However, Klugman was best known for playing Oscar Madison on the TV incarnation of “The Odd Couple,” opposite Tony Randall’s Felix Unger. Klugman first stepped into the role of Oscar for a Broadway adaptation of “The Odd Couple” and he had a long career on stage that included a Tony nomination for his leading part in “Gypsy.”
Following the end of “The Odd Couple’s” five season run, Klugman went on to star as Dr. R. Quincy on “Quincy, M.E.” for seven seasons.
In the later part of his carrer, Klugman guest starred in "Presidio Med," "Crossing Jordan,"
"Diagnosis Murder" and even joined Randall in the reunion movie, The Odd Couple: Together Again.
