Update #2: This wasn't worth doing a whole new article for so I'm just going to add it here. Activision has confirmed to Joystiq that The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will launch in North America on March 26 (March 29 in Europe). The game will also be coming to Wii U on that date. The Wii U version will have a more streamlined inventory system thanks to the Wii U tablet controller.

Update #1: The trailer below is actually a fan edit of footage used during an IGN interview with Terminal Reality for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. According to Activision, this is not an official trailer. However, this is official gameplay of the title in its early stages.

Original Story: Activision and developer Terminal Reality have released the first gameplay footage for their upcoming first-person shooter set in the AMC version of The Walking Dead, starring Daryl and Merle Dixon.

While the below video can technically be branded a trailer, I would tend to label it more of a demo reel. This is very early footage, folks. It looks like the team at Terminal Reality still has a lot of work to pump into The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, but this is definitely a good start. It’s also nice to see the game is more about sneaking and survival than running and gunning. At least that’s the impression I get from the below video.

Give it a looksee and let us know what you think. Do you feel this game has the potential to compete with Telltales’ The Walking Dead, which took home our Game of the Year 2012 honor?
