Ford Motor Company is hitting the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show hard.
They're showing off their push toward more advanced green engine technology, their MyFord Touch in-car technology and Ford Sync App suites.
But, top rally car driver and Ford Racing star Ken Block wasn't on hand to chat about any of that technology. He was in Las Vegas to talk up the new 2013 Ford Fiesta Ecoboost and 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. Block drives a Fiesta on steroids on the racing circuit, so he's a natural enough choice to publicize the these nueva Fiestas.
The ST model is a sport-tuned model of the standard Fiesta. Its turbocharged four cylinder engine will produce 178 horsepower and a 0-to-60-mph time of less than seven seconds. With specially tuned steering and handling, the ST promises to provide a fun run for any buyer — even it can't do what Block's hyper-Fiesta can do.
Crave Online caught up with Block on the CES floor to get his opinion of the Fiesta ST.
"I've had a chance to drive (the Fiesta ST) a few times, and I think it's a great looking car," Block said.
"I'm glad to see Ford really doing some serious work on tuned performance cars. I think it's a car that will be a lot fun to drive — a car that anybody will be able to misbehave in, if they want."
The other entry in the FIesta line is the Ecoboost model, with its 1.6 liter, three cylinder engine (above). By shrinking the engine, adding the Ecoboost turbocharger and reducing weight by using speciall designed materials, the new Fiesta scores an average mileage of 47 mpg.
