Homeland” viewers who saw the second season finale had to be wondering if Damian Lewis’ Congressman Nicholas Brody was being written out of the show. By the end of the episode, Brody was outed as a terrorist and on the run for a devastating CIA bombing that he probably didn’t commit.

However, “Homeland” executive producer Howard Gordon put the speculation to rest during the aftermath of last night’s Golden Globe win for Lewis.

“[Brody is] alive so of course he’ll be back,” Gordon told TVLine. “One of the great challenges of next [season] is how he’ll be back. But there’s no doubt that he will be back.”

The last time Brody was seen, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) had smuggled him to the outskirts of the U.S. and Canadian border where they shared a heartfelt farewell before she returned to the CIA to presumably find a way prove his innocence.

If Brody will be back, then chances are good that we’ll see his estranged wife and children again as they deal with the public fallout of Brody’s apparent betrayal of his country. However, Morena Baccarin, Morgan Saylor and Jackson Pace were not specifically mentioned in Gordon’s comments.

By making it to a third season of “Homeland,” Lewis will eclipse his two year stint on the NBC series “Life.”

“Homeland” will return to Showtime on Sunday, September 29.
