While the corrupted Authority may have set vampire rights back by decades during the last season of “True Blood,” the children of the night still have a few allies left.

Amelia Rose Blaire (pictured on the left) has been cast as Willa Burrell, the daughter of Louisiana Gov. Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard); and Willa is known for conflicting with her father over the issue of vampire rights.

Additionally, Jurnee Smollett (pictured on the left) is also joining “True Blood” Season 6 as as Nicole Wright, a woman who is described as “not concerned with money and more concerned with the common good and doing what’s right.”

Blaire’s character will be recurring on the show with a possibility of becoming a regular cast member in the future. However, Smollett will be among the regular cast this season.

Prior to her upcoming “True Blood” stint, Blaire had roles in “90210,” “Grimm,” “Royal Pains” and “Touch.” Smollett is perhaps best known for playing Jess Merriweather on “Friday Night Lights” as well as the title character in Eve’s Bayou. Smollett also appeared in “House,” Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Defenders,” “ER” and “The Mob Doctor.”

The other previously announced cast members for the new season of “True Blood” are Rutger Hauer as the mysterious Macklyn and Rob Kazinsky as Ben, a potential ally to Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten).

“True Blood” returns to HBO this summer.
