EA Games and Crytek are planning a multiplayer open beta event for Crysis 3 that kicks off January 29, 2013. The event will last till February 12 (Crysis 3 launches on Feb. 19) and offer up two game modes and two maps. You’ll be able to join it on Xbox 360, PS3 or PC.

As previously stated, two game modes will be available in the beta (of eight). The first is called “Crash Site,” which tasks players with securing and defending specific locations to earn points. The second mode, “Hunter,” is all-new and pits two players versus 10 others (14 on PC) in time-based matches that begin with two cloaked hunters stalking 10 opposing CELL troopers. CELL troopers who are killed will respawn as a hunter. The goal is to eliminate all the CELL troops before time runs out.

The two maps included in the beta are “Airport” and “Museum.” According to the press release sent out by EA, both maps “provide players a taste of the lush, urban rainforest and tactical sandbox that awaits them under the Liberty Dome of New York City.”

Finally, a new trailer highlighting Crysis 3’s single player mode was released alongside the multiplayer beta news. You can peep it below.
