Watch: L.A. Noire Gag Reel

It's a video game gag reel. Weird.

You come across gag reels in video games, like, never. When dealing with digital characters, developers typically don’t manipulate them in a way to produce funny, comedic moments that will be thrown into an “extras” menu in a game. Not unless you’re Pixar. But that’s why we’re sharing this rare gem with you today.

The folks behind L.A. Noire’s brilliant motion-scan technology, Depth Analysis, have put together a gag reel for the game that is truly awesome.

If you need a refresher: all of L.A. Noire’s facial animation was done by completely scanning the faces of the actors to capture every little nuisance in their performances. The results, at least from the neck up, were astonishing. The gag reel below is yet another demonstration of how good the facial scanning of L.A. Noire was. Seriously, can we please get some more games that utilize this?!
