Marvel’s Next Big Event: Infinity

Free Comic Book Day will give us our first look at the new Thanos threat that will engulf the Marvel U.

Thanos is returning to threaten the entire Marvel Universe, and everybody's going to be involved – the X-Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Inhumans, Superior Spider-Man – hell, we may even see Sleepwalker throw in (probably not). The event is going to be called Infinity, and we'll get our first look at it on May 4th, on Free Comic Book Day.

This is going to be a huge, galaxy-spanning story, and there's no one better to kick it off than Jonathan Hickman, current writer of Avengers and New Avengers and former writer of FF and Fantastic Four, where he engineered a huge tale about Mad Celestials and Galactus that knocked our socks off. We can only hope Hickman will be writing the whole event rather than having it be a hodge-podge thing like Avengers vs. X-Men.

Jim Cheung will be handling the art for what Marvel's calling "the opening shots of the war that will be heard around the galaxy." This FCBD issue will also reprint Thanos' first solo adventure, as well as giving us a sneak peek behind a "major Marvel release that hasn't been announced yet." Does that mean a comic release or a movie release? We'll find out on May 4th.

Here's the first glimpse of Infinity.
