Very little has been revealed about the eighth and potentially final season of “Dexter,” but one thing is clear: Jamie Batista will be around a lot more when the series returns in June.

Aimee Garcia has been bumped to a series regular for “Dexter” Season 8. Garcia joined “Dexter” as Jamie Batista on a recurring basis during the sixth season. Jamie is a graduate student and the nanny of Dexter’s son, Harrison and the sister of Angel Batista (David Zayas).

Given that the seventh season of “Dexter” ended with the murder of Captain María LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez), it’s been widely speculated that Angel will come to the forefront as he looks into the death of his ex-wife, who had publicly accused Dexter (Michael C. Hall) of being a serial killer.

So far, the only two additions to the cast of “Dexter” Season 8 have been Sean Patrick Flanery as a former cop turned, P.I., Jacob Elroy and Charlotte Rampling as criminal profiler, Dr. Evelyn Vogel; both of whom are rumored to be investigating LaGuerta’s death.

Prior to her role on “Dexter,” Garcia appeared in “All About the Andersons,” “American Family,” “Greetings from Tucson,” “Trauma” and “George Lopez” before her more recent turns in “Vegas” and the upcoming remake of RoboCop.
