Slender: The Eight Pages was proof positive that the horror genre can still be fruitful, as hard as series like Resident Evil and Dead Space have tried to prove otherwise.
In fact, the original game was popular enough to warrant a sequel called Slender: The Arrival, which is coming to PC on March 26. A man by the name of Mark Hadley created the original game by himself; but for The Arrival, Hadley has teamed up with Blue Isle Studios and the writers of “Marble Hornets,” who created a creepy YouTube series based on the Slender Man mythology. All signs point to Slender: The Arrival being absolutely terrifying.
But the point of this post is to tell you that Slender: The Arrival is now available for pre-order, which nets you immediate access to the game’s beta - an upgraded version of the original game’s forest scenario.
The minimum pre-order price is $5. The full game will sell for $10 when it releases on March 26. The team behind The Arrival is even offering some cool incentives if you pledge more to the project to help support independent game development. Stuff like the game’s soundtrack, downloadable, high-res paintings from the game, and even your name in the credits.
If you’re looking for a game that could quite honestly scare the shit right out of you, give Slender: The Arrival you attention. You can play the game right now while simultaneously supporting smaller studios that are actually trying to do something unique in an industry that gets off on convenience.
