Last Sunday on “The Walking Dead,” the Governor (David Morrissey) and his followers began the counterattack on the prison much sooner than anyone expected, leaving at least one of the survivors dead in their wake.

There’s a war coming and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is ill-prepared to fight it, thanks to his recent loss of sanity. At least Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is back at the prison, but no one is happy to see that  his brother, Merle (Michael Rooker) came with him.

In the first of two preview scenes from next Sunday’s episode of “The Walking Dead,” Merle tells Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) what to expect when the Governor eventually returns with a much larger force.

And in the extended preview scene, Rick’s son, Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) approaches his father with something that he’d probably doesn’t want to hear. But it still needs to be said.

“The Walking Dead” Season 3 continues this Sunday night on AMC!
