The final leading role in the upcoming “Zombieland” pilot has been filled.
Deadline is reporting that Kirk Ward has landed the part of Tallahassee; which was originated in the 2009 Zombieland feature film by Woody Harrelson.
And according to Deadline, Ward was actually the actor that Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick originally had in mind for Tallahassee when “Zombieland” was first developed for television before eventually becoming a movie.
Reese and Wernick wrote the new pilot episode of “Zombieland” that has been set up at Amazon.com. The potential “Zombieland” series will take place after the movie and chronicle the further adventures of Tallahassee, Columbus (Tyler Ross), Wichita (Maiara Walsh), and Little Rock (Izabela Vidovic) as they struggle to survive the post zombie apocalypse.
Ward has had a long career in film and television with appearances in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Forrest Gump, The Island, Lords of Dogtown,“Malcolm in the Middle,” “Tenacious D” and Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.
This role should significantly raise Ward’s profile if “Zombieland” gets a full series order. As it is now, there are so few pictures of Ward online that we weren’t able to find one that we can legally use. So click over to Deadline if you want to see what he looks like.
Amazon’s “Zombieland” pilot is expected to film later this year.
