The Miami Marlins and their big-time slugger, Giancarlo Stanton, might have dodged a bullet Wednesday. Well, figuratively at least.

Stanton was hit in the head by what was estimated as a 95 mph fastball in Wednesday's Marlins simulated game by Jose Fernandez.

This is from the Miami Herald:

Stanton said the ball struck him "in the bottom of the head, high neck area" and while his vision was affected, Redmond said initial reports don't show any concussion-like symptoms. The team sent Stanton to take x-rays on his neck as precautionary measure, Redmond said.

"I wasn't dizzy or nothing," said Stanton, who had an ice pack wrapped around the back of his neck when he spoke to reporters in the clubhouse about 15 minutes after being beaned.

"I saw a little grayness, fuzziness on the outside of my eyes but it's subsiding now."

Asked if he fears he may miss significant time, Stanton said: "No. Hopefully, not. But I would say no."
