Square Enix sent out a press release today to officially announce that the high definition remastering of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is coming to North America this fall, exclusively on the PlayStation 3.

Obnoxious name aside, this latest HD collection carries with it some pretty sweet content. For starters, you get the original Kingdom Hearts touched up in high definition, as well as its follow-up, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, and some HD-ified cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (to be clear: no game, just cinematics).

Additionally, the “Final Mix” version of the original Kingdom Hearts, which was previously only available in Japan, will be bundled in this collection as well. Expect full Trophy support, too.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Kingdom Hearts franchise, here’s a bit of a primer straight from the folks at Square Enix.

In Kingdom Hearts, Sora wields the magical keyblade in search of his lost friends, making new ones with Disney’s Goofy and Donald along the way. The story continues through classic Disney stories like Aladdin, Hercules, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, and The Nightmare Before Christmas! Utilizing RPG mechanics and gaining new exploratory powers throughout his adventure, Sora solidified himself as a starry-eyed hero that bridged Disney classics with a unique overarching story of friendship and courage.
