In “Sons of Anarchy” Season 5, Jimmy Smits won rave reviews from fans and critics alike for his performance as Neron “Nero” Padilla. But Nero’s future on the show was a question mark until today.
According to Deadline, Smits is now confirmed to be returning for another season of “Sons of Anarchy.” Smits appeared in 12 episodes during season five as he had a romantic relationship with Gemma (Katey Sagal) and a partnership with Gemma’s son, Jax (Charlie Hunnam). Smitz has previously starred in “LA Law,” “The West Wing” and “Outlaw” on NBC, with a memorable stint on “Dexter” as well.
Former “Terriers” star, Donal Logue will also be coming back for the sixth season of “Sons of Anarchy” as Lee Toric, the former U.S. Marshal who holds a serious grudge against SAMCRO for the death of his sister. Toric is expected to be one of the main adversaries of the new season and he is likely behind the arrest of Tara (Maggie Siff) in the fifth season finale.
There was some question about Logue’s return, since he is also appearing in “Copper” Season 2 for BBC America. Prior to “Terriers,” Logue starred in The Tao of Steve, “The Knights of Prosperity” and “Grounded For Life.”
“Sons of Anarchy” Season 6 will roll out on FX in the fall.
