Joker. Sinestro. Lex Luthor. Chances are you have heard of these men of vision and will and their legendary battles with Superman, Batman and Green Lantern. Now a new documentary examines the lives and legacies of the most infamous villains in the DC universe.

DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns announced the film will begin production this weekend in conjunction with WonderCon in Anaheim. (Pro-tip: DC says you can end up in the film with a little Cos Play and a lot of enthusiasm at the Con this weekend!) The news release, posted to Crave's comics site Superhero Hype, reads in part:

"From the monstrous Solomon Grundy to the brutal Black Adam to the charismatic Sinestro, there is no single greater collection of villainy in all of fiction. These villains are hugely popular comic book characters in their own right and, quite honestly, many are often times more popular than some of our iconic super heroes." – Geoff Johns, DC writer and Chief Creative Officer

The documentary is titled Neccessary Evil: Villains of DC Comics and narrated by often-villainous actor Christopher Lee. Johns added that DC's goal this year is to deconstruct and celebrate the comic antagonists who give our heroes someone to strive against and make 2013 the Year of the Villain.
