Telltale’s Fables Game is Officially ‘The Wolf Among Us’

It’s the Bigby Wolf show in Telltale’s next series based on DC Comics’ Fables.

Telltale Games, the makers of the fantastic The Walking Dead episodic series, have been hard at work on a title based on Bill Willingham and DC Comics’ Fables series for a few years now. We’ve heard bits of information here and there since its initial announcement, but nothing solid. Until today, that is. The company announced this afternoon that the Fables game series will officially be called The Wolf Among Us, and it’s coming to Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac this summer.

The Wolf Among Us puts players in the shoes, err paws, of Bigby Wolf (the Big Bad Wolf), who has been exiled to New York City. While there, Bigby is put in charge of keeping other fairy tale characters such as Mr. Toad and the Three Little Pigs in check and hidden from the outside world.

Telltale hit pay dirt with The Walking Dead, delivering just the right balance of story and character to create a truly memorable, gut-punching experience. However, Telltale has had its fair share of licensed duds in the past, too (remember Jurassic Park?). Let’s hope The Wolf Among Us is more the former than the latter. There’s a lot of potential in turning Bill Willingham’s now-classic comic into a game series, so hopefully Telltale can catch lightning in a bottle twice.

More on The Wolf Among Us is to follow in the coming weeks. Telltale is also currently working on more content for The Walking Dead before season two officially releases this fall
