Disney is no stranger to character mashups of its many universes, but the man who created Kingdom Hearts has raised a titillating idea: Star Wars characters in Kingdom Hearts III.
Disney integrated its characters into the original Kingdom Hearts in 2002. Crave's Xbox360Acheivements website posted an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, game director for the Kingdom Hearts series, who talked about Disney's acquisition of the Star Wars license in 2012 and the possibility for in-game use of those characters.
"When I [heard] the news I was like, 'Wow! Wow!' Yeah obviously it's gonna be great if we could add it, but like I said there are a lot of restrictions and rules by Disney so we don't know what's gonna happen but yeah, we'll see."
Square Enix announced Kingdom Hearts III this year at E3 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
