Next Top Comic

A number of Canadian comedians are battling for the title of SiriusXM Next Top Comic, and now voting has opened up on the website where Canucks can choose their favorite funnyman (or woman).

All eight finalists will perform live at a SiriusXM Comedy Gala at JFL42 in September and a panel of judges will select one winner from all the finalists at the Gala who will be crowned SiriusXM’s Next Top Comic. The winner will take home $15,000 to support their comedic career development.

Registrants were chosen based on "whose video links had us laughing the most," the official website of the contest said, and 12 were invited to a live audition in each of the seven eligible audition cities. All registrants who auditioned will receive a professionally-recorded and mixed audio file of their performance. Three top comics in each city were chosen to become semi-finalists and their live audition videos have been posted on the site for a nation-wide vote.

Voting closes on August 19th. You can vote for your fave here.
