It’s become an annual tradition for WonderCon to host the premiere of a new DC Universe animated movie. This year will be no exception.
WonderCon has announced that the upcoming film, Batman vs. Robin will have its world premiere at WonderCon. Batman vs. Robin is a direct sequel to Son of Batman, which was premiered at WonderCon last year.
Jason O’Mara will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne / Batman, with Stuart Allan as Damian Wayne / Robin, David McCallum as Alfred Pennyworth and Sean Maher as Dick Grayson / Nightwing also returning for Batman vs. Robin.
The storyline of Batman vs. Robin is loosely inspired by the Batman: The Court of Owls arc by Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo. For the film, Jeremy Sisto joins the cast as Talon, the head assassin of the Court of Owls, while Robin Atkin Downes plays the Grandmaster of the Court of Owls and the most beloved animated Batman, Kevin Conroy provides the voice of Thomas Wayne. “Weird Al” Yankovic will also be featured in the film as the villain known as Dollmaker.
Warner Bros.’ synopsis for the film offers the setup that will pit Batman against his son: “Tired of his father always holding him back, Robin runs into the Court of Owls and their assassins, The Talons. They offer Damian a spot in the Court and it’s up to Batman to save him. But what if the new Boy Wonder doesn’t want to be saved?”
WonderCon will be held in Anaheim, California from April 3 to April 5.
