The NBA Finals are set!
by James LeBeau
Jun 01, 2009

I’m not going into the X’s and O’s of the deciding games in either of the Los Angeles Lakers or Orlando Magic series ending victories because frankly, I’m a Cleveland Cavaliers fan, and like when LeBron James did when he stormed out of Orlando arena.

Which, on a side note, I can fully understand. People forget that James is only 24, a six year veteran who is around the same age as a good bit of the rookies coming into the league. He’s known nothing but success and absolute victory with the ease of a breakaway dunk and the fact that he hasn’t delivered a Championship yet to Cleveland, despite the fact that the man he wants to replace as the best ever, the Great Jordan (blah!), didn’t win his first till he was 28, is ultimately the most frustrating thing in life right now. But enough about the Cavs today, come back to CraveOnline Friday to see what I have to say about the Cavs and what their future looks like.

But back to the topic at hand, I want to give hearty congratulations to both the Lakers and the Magic for earning a trip to the Finals (which start Thursday on ABC). As much as I am loathe to admit it, you both deserve it.

Same Two Teams, Same Story

It’s beginning to appear that the NHL Finals rematch of the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins isn’t just a rematch, it’s a replay, as the first two are playing exactly to the tune of a year ago with the Red Wings taking a 2-0 lead. On the bright side, the Pens are playing Detroit tougher this year; they are just lacking the results to show for it.

Pittsburgh Pirates Watch

Introducing a new section to T.G.I.M. this week, the Pittsburgh Pirates watch. We’ll be keeping an every-other week eye on the Pirates as they struggle to snag a winning record and avoid claiming the record for most consecutive losing seasons in baseball history.

After a strong April, May was a rough one for the Bucco’s as they say an above .500 team drop to six games below .500. On the plus side, they have gotten some really quality pitching out of their starters, but have been lacking the offense to back it up. Hopefully, the return of power hitter Ryan Doumit from DL in the near future will give the O a shot in the arm.

Why?

Ok people, it’s time to let go with your fascination with NASCAR Driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. I understand that Sr. was the shizzit and was arguably the greatest to ever get behind the wheel, but Junior isn’t Sr. and it’s time everyone realizes that. He’s an average driver and no amount of crew changing is going to change that.

On the subject of NASCAR, teammate of Junior, Jimmie Johnson, edged out Tony Stewart in the final laps to win the race at Dover International yesterday. The second place finish by Stewart was enough to catapult him to number one in the Sprint Cup point standings.
