Keith Jardine defeating Chuck Liddell September 22, 2007

This match took place at UFC 76 and looked to be an easy bout for Liddell on his way to a title shot. Keith Jardine, his opponent and the winner of the Ultimate Fighter reality show, had suffered a knockout loss to Houston Alexander that lasted less than a minute in his previous fight and wasn't expected to last long in this one. But he came out and dominated early, picking Liddell apart for three rounds and winning the match via a split decision.

Michigan came into this game against the Division 1-AA Appalachian State as the #5 team in the country and heavy favorites to win by double digits. They were home in front of 100,000 Wolverine fans and had history on there side as no 1-AA team had ever beat a top 25 ranked team. But that would soon be changed with a final second blocked field goal that gave Appalachian State a 34-32 win and a place in college football history.

Having been the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world for two years, the only man "Iron Mike" saw as a threat was Evander Holyfield, who he was scheduled to meet after a brief warm up against a little known fighter called Buster Douglas. At 40-1 odds, Douglas wasn't expected to last a round but the underdog came out firing, dominating the early rounds. Buster would eventually stun the boxing world in the 10th when he put the champ down for the count with a definitive KO to become the new Heavyweight Champion.
Giants beat the New England Patriots in Superbowl XLII

The New England Patriots, a perfect 18-0 came into this game as 12 point favorites over the wild card New York Giants, who needed three straight road victories to get to this point. The two teams met 4 weeks previously when the Patriots beat the Giants 38-35 to ensure their undefeated regular season. But a perfect season was not to be as a miracle catch and a touchdown with 35 seconds left made the Giants the second Wild Card team in three years to win 4 straight playoff road games and claim the NFL crown (the 2005 Steelers were the first team).
USA beats the USSR in Ice Hockey at the 1980 Olympics

Called "the Miracle on Ice", the USA hockey teams 1980 defeat of the USSR to earn the Gold metal is easily one of the greatest upsets of all time. Coming into the matchup, the Americans were ranked 7th of 12 teams while the Soviets had won 8 of the past nine gold metals in the sport. As a little icing on the cake, these two teams met in an exhibition game earlier that year with the USSR pasting the USA 10-3. But history be damned as the USA pulled off most unlikely upset with a 4-3 defeat of the Russians.
