5. Rally Monkey (Anaheim Angels)
Is there a better name for a mascot than Rally Monkey? I think Not! Thank Ace Ventura for the Angels mascot as a clip from that movie showing the monkey aired right before the Angels rallied to beat the San Francisco Giants in the ninth innings. Thus, a legend was born.
4. The Orioles Bird (Baltimore Orioles)
The Orioles Bird has been Baltimore's mascot since 1979, best known for his wild rides through Camden Yards on his scooter. The Bird is also known for being pushed off an outfield wall by an overeager fan.
3. Harvey the Hound (Calgary Flames)
Premiering in 1983, Harvey the Hound was the very first NHL mascot. He was originally the mascot for two teams, the Calgary Flames and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, before becoming a staple at Flames games.
2. Phillie Phanatic (Philadelphia Phillies)
I'm not sure what exactly the Phillie Phanatic is, but he sure is loved. Made from recommendations from Jim Henson, the Phanatic was made to embody the faithfulness of Philly fans. 'He' is one of three mascots whose costumes are in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
1. San Diego Chicken (San Diego Padres)
Considered the grandfather of sports mascots, this MLB Hall of Fame mascot has been entertaining fans since 1974. The Famous Chicken, as he is also known, is so popular that he was named by the Sporting News as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful People In Sports For The 20th Century.
