On September 10, Maximum Fighting Champion is back, as many of the MFC’s biggest names will spotlight MFC 26 Retribution, which will take place at the River Cree Resort and Casino located miles outside of Edmonton, Alberta.
Retribution will have two standout fights, which both will share as co-main event status.
The finale will feature homegrown MFC standout Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford, who has a 12-2 record and who is a two time challenger for the MFC welterweight championship, as he returns on his quest for championship gold when he squares off against American Top Team star Douglas “The Phenom” Lima, who holds record of 14-4.
Ford, who will be fighting in his hometown has built a massive fan following due to his aggressive style and will set out to increase his current win streak to five. Meanwhile, Lima who is a native of Brazil and who fights out of Atlanta, Georgia is a submission specialist who has his eyes set on a shot at the MFC crown.
The other main event of the night features legendary veteran Antonio “Mandingo” McKee, who is 23-3-2, as he puts his MFC lightweight title and his career on the line to take on Luciano Azevedo who is 16-8 and is known as the only fighter to hold a win over pound-for-pound top-10 fighter Jose Aldo.
McKee fights out of Lakewood, California and has not been defeated in seven years. He has stated that he will retire from competition should he not finish Azevedo inside the five-round distance. Mean while Azevedo, a native of Rio de Janeiro, has vowed to end McKee’s career and secure the lightweight title.
A lightweight match up is also featured on the main card. Dwayne Lewis, who is 11-5 and is a McMurray, Alberta native will take on 8-3 Mike Nickels of Denver, Colorado.
Lewis who has a powerful punch is close to striking it big in the 205-pound division but needs to get back to his old ways that earned him a seven fight winning streak prior to a unanimous decision loss to Emanuel Newton, the former light heavyweight champ at MCF 25.
The under card fights contain a number of up and coming fighters in the MFC, including middleweight Ford Robertson, light heavyweight Taylor Bull and catchweight Aaron Berke.
