Hollenbeck Park Skate Spot with Rob Dyrdek

Opening ceremony for the Hollenbeck Park Skate Spot.

The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, in partnership with The Rob Dyrdek Skate Plaza Foundation and Councilmember, José Huizar, have recently expanded a standard park into a designated skateboarding zone. The Hollenbeck Park Safe Spot Skate Spot features seamlessly integrated skateboarding features, such as rails, ledges, and launch ramps, without the hassle of authorities. On opening day, December 17, 2009, some of the young, local East Los Angeles skateboarding talent tested out the new skate spot and hung around for the dedication ceremony with Rob Dyrdek, who explained the park's significance in preserving skateboarding culture by providing a welcome outlet for inner-city kids.

Below is an official video from the ceremony, including Rob's speech and a brief reel of some of the more impressive tricks from the afternoon's local skateboarders.
