Man o’ man it must suck to be a college football coach, because apparently the faculty at the school doesn’t appreciate your crappy Bowl birth. Recently a head coach got a five million dollar raise and the staff had a conniption. With the NCAA making it blatantly obvious that they value making money over education (despite what their commercials say) coaches find themselves on a perpetual hot seat, talk about love. Coaches must really love the sport because the gauntlet has been thrown down, the school does not have your back, and in fact they just put a ‘kick me’ sign on it and sent you on your way, good luck!
I wish I could say it.
For as long as I’ve known about Roy Williams I’ve known one thing to be true, he can’t catch. I remember watching this little featurette that had a wide receivers coach tossing bricks at his receivers to help them with their hands. If I’m not mistaken, Roy Williams was one of them. The coach used this tactic because Williams kept dropping the ball. It’s something that Williams has struggled with.
It’s weird that no one seems to remember that Roy Williams can’t catch, especially the front office of the Dallas Cowboys. This is the guy you got to replace Terrell Owens? Ha! Oh wait… Ha! You did get that guy to replace Terrell Owens. I guess the jokes on you Dallas.
It’s no surprise that Williams leads the league in dropped passes, he’s finally being exposed as a less than stellar receiver. He has all the talent he could ever need but can’t get it together mentally. It’s a shame indeed. He should have never opened his mouth, maybe no one would have noticed that he can’t catch.
My dream, in jeopardy?
Unlike a lot of people I could care less if Kobe meet’s LeBron in the finals, sure I’ll watch, but I would much rather see the Lakers versus the Celtics in the NBA playoffs. My take is simple; if both teams remain healthy then my dream will be realized. D’oh! Kevin Garnett is questionable for tonight’s game against the Suns, Pierce is out, and Rondo is also questionable. Dammit. Kobe has a broken finger and Artest has a concussion because ninja’s attacked his house or some such.
The good news is its early in the season and these injuries hopefully won’t linger. I’m more worried about the Celtics as the issues they are facing are dealing with aging players and their knees. Paul Pierce has a sore knee, that’s not just going to go away sadly and he’s the teams leader. Kevin Garnett proved that he was an invaluable piece when he went don’t last year and the team couldn’t defend it’s title.
On the Lakers end a broken finger should heal all things considered, plus he’s playing pretty damn good with a broken finger. Artest should eventually come back, the teams problems aren’t really based on injury; it’s their big men and their bench. Andrew Bynum is the excuse Laker fans use to explain why they lost to the Celtics. It was his absence that was the difference maker. If Andrew can’t figure out how to actually stay on the floor long enough to make a difference then maybe he’ll be the difference maker the Lakers are looking for. That’s a big if considering that what he’s excelled at so far is fouling.
Bobby Bowden I hardly knew you.
To be honest I’m not much for College Football. There are way too many teams and the post season is a week long joke. But that doesn’t mean I can’t recognize greatness within the sport, even if the sport is broken and backwards.
Speaking of broken, the way in which Bowden went out will stick forever in my mind and cement the idea that from an outsider’s perspective the sport eats it’s young. Bobby Bowden deserved more than what he got. The college has no excuse for the mistreatment of Bowden.
College sports has been suspect for years and is constantly mired in corruption. It doesn’t help matters when the NCAA doesn’t step in and help a legend like Bowden.
