Philadelphia 34 Atlanta 7
CO Take: No Matt Ryan, no Michael Turner equals no resistance to the Eagles in the homecoming game of Michael Vick. As a little icing on the cake (or slap in the face, depending on how you want to look at it), Vick scored not only his first touchdown on the season, but his second as well.
Indianapolis 27, Tennessee 17
CO Take: The Colts took to heart all the talk last week that the 'surging' Titans were going to give them their first loss and easily dispatched them and their slim playoff hopes. In doing so, they looked better than the other undefeated team, the Saints, who needed overtime to defeat an inconsistent Washington team.
New England 21, Miami 22
CO Take: Like the Pittsburgh Steelers, who gave up 21 4th quarter points in their loss to the Oakland Raiders, the Patriots aren't quite the team they were in the past. Miami, on the other hand, keeps it's hopes alive for both the division and the Wild Card. I'm telling you, 9-7 is going to earn a spot in the playoffs for the AFC.
Dallas 24, NY Giants 31
CO Take: Yep, it's officially December as the Cowboys have started the month in familiar fashion...a loss. Dallas has got to win next week to buck this trend and give them the confidence they will need to advance in the playoffs.
No Shocker...
It's Alabama vs. Texas in the BCS title game while TCU gets Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. Former number one Florida gets Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl.
CO Take: The 'little' dogs (TCU. Cincinnati and Boise State) get left out of any hope of a National Championship yet again. I mean, jeesh, all they did was go undefeated so why should they play for the top spot? How many more years do we have to put up with this joke of a system that is the BCS before someone wakes up and implements an 8 team playoff that nearly everyone is screaming for?
When is a Bust a Bust?
The number one pick in the 2007 NBA draft, Greg Oden, has seen another season flash before his eyes as he suffered a season ending injury Saturday night, breaking his kneecap. The oft-injured big man has missed the majority of his NBA career due to a string of injuries.
CO Take: Is it safe to write off the big man as a bust? I think that's a bit premature and you only have to look at Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas to see where I'm coming from. Big Z missed most of his first three seasons suffering a multitude of foot injuries before he finally got his health right and went on to become an All-Star center and one of the cornerstones of the Cavs resurgence. Now while Oden and Z are different types of centers, it's not a stretch to think that Greg can come back and have a very productive career.
