There sure is a lot happening in the NFL this year. Two teams vying to go undefeated, a forty year old attempting the impossible, and two running backs racing for domination, and that’s just the beginning! Adrian Peterson just recently got a speeding ticket on his way to a team meeting, he was doing something like 109 mph. It’s just that sort of season and I haven’t even mentioned the resurgence of Vince Young.
Colts vs. Titans!
Last year this game had a lot of promise, and then the Titans lost the first five games of the season. Vince Young comes back to the starting line-up and the rest is history, now one team is marching towards 10 wins worth of history while the Colts look to set a benchmark of their own.
Are both teams evenly matched or are the Titans in for a trip back to reality? I’ll tell ya that both teams have momentum going into the game, but I think that Tennessee is riding the bigger high and might catch a team like Indy sleeping.
I wouldn’t put money on it but I think the Titans are going to do the unthinkable and run the table behind their running game and VY’s leadership. The Colts will still go far in the playoffs, but they won’t be undefeated.
The No Fun League
So Steven Jackson was fined $5,000 for throwing a ball into the stands after scoring in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Jackson was aware of the fine before he threw the pass but wanted to reward fans for sticking around during the route.
What the hell is wrong with the NFL? And how many times must some guy like me ask that question? Just who is getting pissed that a ball gets thrown into the stands? It happens in baseball all the time and there isn’t a riot over the ball. At some point the NFL will have to remove the stick up there butts because all they are really doing is reminding regular people of how much money the NFL has and in turn how much money they the fan lacks.
It just doesn’t make sense that a guy that plays a sport can laugh off $5,000 when a teacher would have to consider a second job in the face of such a fine. It reminds us that the all mighty dollar has erased the balance in our society, where our values have all been skewed for better or for worse.
LeBron is 50/50
I’ll admit that the Dunk Contest hasn’t pulled me in front of a TV in quite some time. The thought of LeBron having a go at the event did spark some interest but what got me to thinking. No one person can save the dunk contest, without theatrics there just hasn’t been a lot of new ground broken. After all, while cool and all, a 360 is still a 360. LeBron risking injury in an event that has no bearing on the outcome of the season isn’t worth it to me.
On the other hand, if he was going to do it, then now would be the time in his career to do it. He should enjoy his youth and take advantage of it at times as well. Plus it builds good credit with the fans. Right now in his career LeBron is loved wherever he goes, and that’s not as common as you might think, just ask Kobe.
I think that how his team is doing will greatly effect his decision to participate in the contest. If he’s winning then no, if he’s losing he’ll do it to boost his team.
