The Monday Rundown...

Around the League...

Tampa Bay 17, Atlanta 20

CO Take: I've mentioned times when a win is a loss and this might be one of them for Atlanta. Yes, the victory improved them to 6-5 and brings them ever closer to that coveted wild-card position but in the process of winning, they lost quarterback Matt Ryan and running back Michael Turner to injury. The length of which either will be out is unknown at this time but you have to be worried if you're a Falcons fan.

Cleveland 7, Cincinnati 16

CO Take: The lackluster Bengals all but wrapped up their division with this uninspiring win ( and a Steelers overtime loss to Baltimore). Don't get me wrong, Cincinnati has the making of a power running game not seen in ages with Benson and a motivated Larry Johnson but it won't be enough to get them past the top teams in the playoffs.

Indianapolis 35, Houston 27

CO Take: If the Texans ever learn to finish games, they are going to be a dangerous team. Until then, it's losses like the one Sunday for them. As for Indy, they remain perfect in record only. I'd put them third in the League right now behind the undefeated Saints and my personal top dog, Minnesota, who skinned the Bears 36-10.

Arizona 17, Tennessee 20

CO Take: The Titans have reeled off 5 straight wins since switching to quarterback Vince Young for leadership and they have done it in spectacular fashion; with an explosive running game and an opportunistic passing game. Props has to go to Young for taking his time off to heart and preparing himself mentally and physically to lead this team.

What's Up With Tiger?

Tiger Woods was involved in an auto accident this weekend when he lost control of his SUV outside his Mansion and hit both a fire hydrant and a neighbor's tree. He received minor facial injuries and was released from the hospital.

In a statement he released, Woods blames himself for the accident but remained vague on the circumstances surrounding it.

"This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me," Woods said on his Web site. "I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.

CO Take: This situation reeks of someone, namely Woods, just wanting it to go away. He has repeatedly avoided interviews with the state police and is doing his best to avoid the situation entirely. Now in a new twist, state police are seeking a warrant to get his medical files to see if the facial injuries were really from the crash or if they were from domestic violence. Could Woods admittance of fault be his way of saying “I just walked into a door” or maybe “I slipped down the stairs”. Is Tiger just another abused spouse to terrified to come out and seek help? Time will tell.

What does 0-17 Get You? Well, Fired of Course!

New Jersey Nets coach Lawrence Franks has been fired by the Nets after going win-less in the first month of basketball. You can thank the media for the abrupt firing in the middle of a road trip as the plan was to fire Franks after returning home. But since reports leaked out, the Nets were pressured to make the Move sooner than later.

CO Take: Not a shocker here, in a game about wins and losses, you have to have wins and Franks didn't have any. This isn't good news for the Nets who want to lure LeBron James in this offseason.
