NBA Releases 2009-2010 Schedule

A look at some of the seasons highlights

The NBA has released its schedule for the 2009-2010 and it’s looking pretty Shaqtastic as the Big Diesel in his new Cleveland threads opens up the season on Oct. 27th against the upgraded Boston Celtics. Later that evening, its ring time in LA as the Lakers hold their ring ceremony before taking on the Clippers.

 

Oct. 28th brings opening night for other teams as the Vince Carter era in Orlando begins against the Philadelphia 76ers. The new look Pistons unveil Ben Gordon as they open up against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Nov. 1st is the first meeting between Orlando and Toronto, made notable by the change in venue by one of Orlando’s huge contributors, Hideo Turkalo.

Nov. 6th has LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers heading to New York to face a Knicks team with visions of LBJ in their future. LeBron at the Garden is always exciting as he nearly went for a historic triple double the last time he played in the building.

Nov 11th is the first meeting between the Cavaliers and Magic since Orlando sent the Cavs packing in the Eastern Conference Finals. An interesting subplot pits Shaq against Dwight Howard to decide the fate of the name ‘Superman’.

Nov. 13th pits the Los Angeles Lakers against the Denver Nuggets in a fight between two of the top teams in the NBA.

Nov. 22nd gives a potential offensive show between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder as Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant faces off against one another.

Dec 3rd puts two potential NBA Champions head to head as the Boston Celtics face the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs leapt back into the Championship talks with the acquisition of Richard Jefferson.

Dec 25th is Merry Christmas to every NBA fan as the league gives us 5 games. This smorgasbord of basketball is highlighted by LeBron, Kobe and Shaq all on the same court as the Lakers face the Cavaliers.

Jan. 5th is reunion time with Ron Artest and Trevor Ariza facing their old teams as the Houston Rockets and Lakers face off.

Jan 31st is yet another glimpse of a potential Final as the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers face off in what is sure to be an exciting match-up.

Feb. 7th has the Orlando Magic versus the Boston Celtics in a pre-SuperBowl slugfest between two of the Eastern Conference heavies.

Feb. 14th has the NBA taking a breather and highlighting its stars in the annual NBA All-Star game.

Mar. 7th is a rematch of the NBA Finals as the Lakers and Magic face off. No Turkalo and no Ariza makes this game a tad more interesting.

Mar. 24th possibly puts the best record in the West up for grabs as the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers square off.

April 4th is a rematch between the Lakers and Spurs as well as Cleveland and Boston going at it. This doubleheader has playoff implications written all over it.

April 14th ends the season with the San Antonio Spurs battling the Dallas Maverics.
