NBA Playoff Update
The Conference Finals are in full swing and favorites Cleveland and Los Angeles are in fights that may see them take a seat for the Finals.
Over in the West, the Los Angeles Lakers is deadlocked with the Denver Nuggets 2-2 after Denver cruised to a 120-101 victory Monday night. Denver survived, even thrived, on a night where Carmelo Anthony was looking mortal with a pedestrian 15 pts on 3-16 shooting. For Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant was his usual stud self with 34 pts but saw there bench fall apart as they were outscored 42-24.
"They whooped us, period," said Kobe Bryant, "They whooped us on the glass. They whooped us to loose balls."
In Orlando, the Magic hold a 2-1 series lead over the top seeded Cleveland Cavaliers and have looked dominant doing so. Cleveland has looked out of sorts in all three games and is on the verge of wasting a record-breaking season if they can’t turn it around. Simply put, it’s my humble opinion that the Cavs need to focus on controlling the perimeter and not worry so much about Dwight Howard inside. The Magic live and die on their outside shooting, tale that away and they will falter (yes, I’m a Cavs fan, sue me).
NHL Playoff Update
Yep, they are still playing hockey as the NHL is on an almost inevitable rematch of last years Pittsburgh Penguins-Detroit Red Wings Finals. The Penguins hold a commanding 3-0 lead over the Carolina Hurricanes while the Red Wings will look to close out their 3-1 series against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.
The Roundup, Criminal style!
No, the following isn’t an episode of COPS, but a roundup of the recent NFL headlines. Star New York Jets Safety Kerry Rhodes was cleared of a suspected rape in New Jersey, one that allegedly took place at Rhodes Townhouse. Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Randy Starks faces felony charges, officially aggravated battery of a police officer, stemming from an incident where a slow-moving truck he was driving struck a police officer. The NFL is investigating the Washington Redskins for tampering in their free agent pursuit of Albert Haynesworth. It is suspected that the Redskins had negotiations in place with Haynesworth’s agent before the start of free-agency.
